NC Republicans have already rigged our voting maps. Now they're going even farther. They are passing a new Congressional map to give Donald Trump another seat in the US House.
Fair maps matter because:

Voters can hold their leaders accountable

Leaders have to listen to voters, not corporations and party bosses

They help prevent extreme laws that voters don't like

Voters know their votes matter, so they show up
In 2022, North Carolina had fair voting maps and sent 7 Democrats and 7 Republicans to the US House.
In 2024, Republicans rigged our maps and send 4 Democrats and 10 Republicans to the US House.
In 2026, Republicans will rig the maps even more to send 3 Democrats and 11 Republicans to the US House.
NC isn't red. Our maps are just rigged.
What's happening?
North Carolina Republican State Legislators are redrawing NC's voting maps to gain an extra seat in the US House in 2026.
This is part of a larger effort by the Republican Party to rig the maps in as many states as possible. They started with Texas and have now moved to Missouri, North Carolina, Indiana, and more.
Why is it happening?
Republicans are afraid that they will lose the US House in 2026 if they have competitive elections.
Republicans hold the presidency and control the US Senate and US House. Voters don't like what they're doing and Republicans know they will be voted out of office in fair elections.
So they are blatantly rigging maps so voters can't vote them out.
Can we stop it?
No. Unfortunately in NC there's nothing we can do to stop this.
The Republicans have the votes they need to pass the new congressional map. Governor Stein cannot veto the new map because NC does not give the governor that power.
What CAN we do?
Get loud. Make sure Republicans know there is a political cost for this behavior.
If you live in a district that is represented by a Republican in the State House or Senate, call them. A lot.
If you can, join us on 10/21 at 11:30 in front of the State Capitol in Raleigh to protest.
Make sure everyone knows who is rigging the system and why. We must shame the legislators that take away voter's voices.
